Still, it was not long before we sat to face each other; there was an intention to reconnect ... and the only way was to communicate. We took turns to speak.
It was soon evident: our realities were so different ... and equally valid. We realised that we were worlds apart, yet experiencing the same emotional pain. With words we brought understanding and compassion, and drew our worlds closer by creating a shared reality.
The power of words: we can use them to vent our anger and hurt others to justify our own pain, or we can use them to connect, communicate, and share ourselves.
Showing what is real eliminates the clash of egos. Crazy shit, but it ended in hugs.
My three lessons of the day:
- To be understood, express (vulnerably, transparently).
- To understand, listen.
- To connect, share.
May expression feel like singing, may listening sound like music, and may sharing feel like dancing ... together.
